TIFTON, Ga. (May 15, 2015) – Dr. Bret Wagenhorst, Tifton ophthalmologist, will discuss “The Aging Eye” on Wednesday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at Southern Care Assisted Living, a premier assisted living community and Alzheimer’s care facility near Valdosta, Ga. and Adel, Ga.

The event is free and open to the public. The Southern Care community is located at 1934 Whiddon Mill Road.

It is estimated that over 7 million adults age 65 and older suffer from some form of vision loss. Dr. Wagenhorst will discuss some of the most common vision issues aging adults encounter such as:

  • Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Cataracts
  • Glaucoma, and
  • Dry eyes

Dr. Wagenhorst has been practicing ophthalmology in Tifton for nearly 18 years as part of the Tifton Ophthalmology practice. He is board certified and recently completed the board recertification process, which is required every 10 years. As an ophthalmologist, he is trained to conduct eye examinations, treat medical eye conditions and perform eye surgeries.
